Author Guidelines

Manuscript Preparation:

All submissions should be in English and prepared according to the journal's specific formatting guidelines. Manuscripts should be double-spaced, with a clear, readable font (e.g., Times New Roman, 12-point). The manuscript must include a title page with the title of the manuscript, author(s) name(s), affiliation(s), and contact information. Abstracts and keywords should be included at the beginning of the manuscript, while Figures, Plates, Tables, and Equations should be adequately numbered and cited in the text. Pick 4-6 keywords using a mix of generic and more specific terms on the article subject(s).

Manuscript Structure:

The manuscript should be presented in the following order; Title, Authors names, addresses and affiliations; Abstract (not structured), Keywords, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Authors’ contribution(s), Acknowledgements, Declaration of Competing Interest, Funding Information (if any), References. Ensure to clearly state the conclusions and recommendations as the last paragraph(s) of the Discussion in the study. Use headings and subheadings to organize the content logically.

Include a list of references cited in the manuscript following the journal specific citation style (Vancouver). In Vancouver style, citations are marked in your text with numbers. These numbers appear in bracket; for example, Davies et al. [1] argue that …; Ikhajiagbe and Adewale [4] opine that ...

Ethical Considerations:

Authors shall ensure that their work is original and has not been published elsewhere. They are to also ensure that their works are properly cited and referenced to avoid plagiarism. We encourage the use of highly efficient antiplagiarism packages to ensure originality of submitted contents. We recommend a similarity index of not more than 15%. As much as artificial intelligence is applied to make discoveries and literature reviews and searches less stressful, we wish to discourage its use in the final development of all submitted contents.

You are required to disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could influence the research or its interpretation. Also ensure to obtain necessary permissions for any copyrighted material used in the manuscript.

Submission Process:

Submit manuscripts online through the journal's submission system; but also ensure that a copy of the manuscript is sent via email to submit.jul@gmail.com

Apart from the manuscript, include a cover letter to the designated email address, briefly summarizing the significance of the research and confirming that the manuscript has not been submitted elsewhere.

Authors may be required to suggest potential reviewers for their manuscript. This is usually at the discretion of the Editorial Board

Peer Review Process:

All submitted manuscripts will undergo a peer-review process to evaluate the quality and validity of the research. Authors should be prepared to address reviewers' comments and revise the manuscript accordingly. The peer review process is confidential, and authors should not contact reviewers directly.

Publication Ethics:

Authors should adhere to ethical standards in research and publication. Any concerns about ethical issues should be reported to the journal's editorial office. Authors are responsible for the accuracy and integrity of their research findings.

Article Publication Charge

The journal charges a maximum article publication fee of 25,000 Naira only, payable to the Bank Accounts of the Society for Underutilized Legumes (Zenith Bank 1015998607). Under certain circumstances, the journal editorial board may grant waivers (or discounts) for publication fees. These waivers are typically considered on a case-by-case basis and are subject to recommendations of the Publishers of the Journal.
